FishBase it is an online encyclopedia and database of fish information. As of October 2006, it contained descriptions of over 29,400 species, more than 222,300 common names in numerous languages, over 42,600 photographs, and references to over 38,600 papers in scientific literature.
It's is the largest and most accessible online fish database. Widely cited in academic publications, FishBase has become a dynamic and versatile ecological tool.


SeaLifeBase is a global online database of marine life information. Its goal is to provide essential information on the taxonomy, distribution, and ecology of all marine species except fish. SeaLifeBase is associated with the WorldFish Center in Malaysia and the University of British Columbia's Institute for the Oceans and Fisheries. Daniel Pauly is the principal investigator and works with Maria Lourdes D. Palomares.
As of March 2023, it included descriptions of 85,000 species, 59,400 common names, 15,500 images, and references to 39,300 scientific literature works. SeaLifeBase complements FishBase by providing parallel information on fish.


The World Register of Marine Species (WoRMS) is a taxonomic database that aims to provide an authoritative, comprehensive list of the names of marine organisms.
